July 31, 2017- Dr. Neda Laiteerapong and Dr. Elbert Huang have published a chapter in the 3rd edition of Diabetes in America. Their chapter, “Diabetes in Older Adults,” will become the leading reference for the geriatric diabetic population in the United States.

July 28, 2017- Dr. Marshall Chin will leading a seminar today at the University of Otago in New Zealand. His presentation, “Improving Diabetes Outcomes and Nutrition in the African-American South Side of Chicago” will detail a multilevel intervention that addresses health disparities among African Americans on Chicago’s South Side. We are very excited to have the opportunity to share the South Side Diabetes Project globally!
July 26, 2017- Dr. Arshiya Baig has been awarded a grant from the Office of Minority Health (OMH) at the US Department of Health and Human Services for their “Partnerships to Achieve Health Equity” grant program for her study titled “Implementing Diabetes Group Visits in Midwestern Community Health Centers to Improve Diabetes Outcomes.” For the awarded study, she will be working in partnership with the Midwest Clinician’s Network, a member agency of over 120 health centers across 10 states, to implement a diabetes group visit and mobile text messaging intervention in 20 clinical sites. The project will impact low-income patients from racial ethnic minority groups who are in rural and urban areas.
