Shared Decision-Making: A Tool for Enhancing Patient Empowerment Among African Americans with Diabetes

Looking to improve your patient’s self-confidence and diabetes care? On August 8th at the American Association of Diabetes Educators National Meeting (AADE14), Dr. Monica Peek of the South Side Diabetes Program – supported by the Merck Foundation’s Alliance to Reduce Disparities in Diabetes – will present a master class along with two other investigators. During the class, Dr. Peek will share how culturally-tailored diabetes education with skills training in shared decision-making can improve patients’ self-confidence, self-empowerment, and diabetes-related health outcomes.
