Dr. Monica Peek Named SGIM Outstanding Junior Investigator

March 2013 – Dr. Monica Peek has been selected by the Society of General Internal Medicine as the 2013 Outstanding Junior Investigator of the Year in recognition of her accomplishments and contributions to the field of academic general internal medicine. Dr. Peek’s work focuses on health disparities, particularly as related to chronic disease management and preventive health care. She has concentrated her research on diabetes and breast cancer screening. She is currently exploring how race and culture impact the patient/provider relationship, shared decision-making and diabetes health outcomes. Dr. Peek will be presented with this award at the SGIM annual meeting in Denver later this year.
